Wedding Industry Tips & Tricks

As the 2012 wedding season draws to a close and we prepare for our 2013 brides-to-be we have listed a few tricks of the trade that are common in the wedding industry that 2013 budget bride’s love this time of year.

  • Shop for the popular wedding accessories, cake toppers and bridal party gifts at 2012 price point.  (It’s a fact of life that prices rise every year on just about everything from food to gas and even wedding related products.)
  •  Occasionally discontinued items that you love now and are popular get marked down providing a lovely savings and a remake of the design becomes available during the following year. (It’s a best kept secret among manufacturers when occasionally discontinuing items they sometimes get a new design of the product or packaging and re-launch it the following year. )
  • Popular seasonal wedding items that help create the theme of your wedding day can save you $$ and insure that you have them in your hands before your big day or before they are sold out when purchased in the off season.  Example: Scenic Branch Placecard Holders purchased in late November for a fall wedding the next season helps you achieve two things; 2012 pricing, in stock before sold out next August – October.  Cherry Theme items for example should be purchased now before January – April when spring wedding season kicks off.
  • Wedding Photography encompasses booking your photographer early before next season at wonderful 2012 prices and insuring that you have the photographer you want whose work impresses you.  Most photographers restructure packages, albums, and prices by mid-December before the January bridal shows take place.   October bridal shows are a great time to scout photographers and narrow down your search before next year when prices rise and dates become booked.  While January bridal shows tend to offer discounts the over price is still higher than previous year discounts and specials.
  • Wedding Cake Bakers tend to take limited bookings for wedding cakes for each weekend.  If you have a bakery that your sweet tooth craves and can’t live without be sure to taste test and book early.
  • Wedding Venues also tend to be booked early sometimes years in advance for the weekend or date you desire.  Most venues only service one wedding per day.  Some locations allow for many couples to marry in a single day but they are scheduled at different time slots and cannot go over on time.  Beginning the process to book the wedding venue of your dreams should begin early.

By preparing, booking, and shopping early you can begin to save money on the things you need for your wedding and be able to budget your payment plan according.

We hope you find these wedding industry insider tips and tricks helpful.  Happy wedding planning!

Sand for Sand Ceremony

You as the excited bride and groom have decided to go with a sand ceremony during the wedding ceremony instead of the traditional unity candle.  With the many types of possibilities to choose from such as vases in all shapes and sizes and shadow box frames choosing the right color of sand to use for your sand ceremony is harder than you might think.  Do you choose the color of sand that matches your wedding theme or choose to go with a color that matches your home décor scheme in a room?  What if you decided to change the room décor years later and the sand won’t match the current room with which you will be displaying your sand ceremony shadow box or vase?  With these questions choosing the right color of sand is important if you want to keep this sacred ceremony memento displayed through the years.   Choosing neutral sand colors can help make easier decorating choices later in married life.   Happy sand hunting!
